Commissions, Original Artworks & Limited Edition Prints
Commissions can be for an original painting or drawing based on a favourite photograph, or even just an idea. Whether you are looking for your home or work environment, my rates are reasonable. I make sure you are completely happy with my work and service.

Unique artwork for you
In consultation with you, I interpret the photograph's essence and retain its dynamism while capturing of enhancing the veracity of the subject.
For example, the commissioned large custom-sized artwork shown above of Ellie and her Dad After the Storm is an accurate depiction of a favourite snapshot with a few changes. I placed the figures left of centre, enriched the colours, enhanced the stormy skies and suggested a hint of sun coming through. .
Daffodil Meadow, above, was painted from an old, faded photograph of the subjects when they were first together years ago - see below. in the photo, all the daffodils had gone over so the client asked that the daffodils be blooming and the atmosphere be romantically memorable.

There are hundreds of canvas sizes to choose so you can pretty much have any size you wish. If you prefer a custom built frame with stretched linen in any size, this can be arranged for you at a reasonable extra cost.
You may choose a stretch canvas with less than 2cm depth, or a box stretch canvas with 4cm depth. The 2cm depth can be either painted over the edges or just to the edge of the surface, 'museum' style. This needs a frame although glass is not required. On the other hand, box canvases are painted over the edges 'gallery' style, as below. Gallery painted canvases are hung without a frame.

My drawings are in pencils, wash and/or inks on black or white paper. Each subject requires countless fine lines.
The drawings are not framed and you may choose any size. Your drawing will be crisp and clear for many years fading may occur over the years if displayed in direct sunlight. You may protect the drawing by framing it behind UV glass and hang it away fromdirect sunlight. An alternative is to have a glicee print made from the original.
First email me stating your interest, mentioning whether you would like a painting or drawing, and attach the photo you are considering using for the commission. My only restriction is that I don't paint from studio photography.
-
tell me the approximate measurements and whether you want 'museum' or 'gallery' (box canvas).
- I will review your information and get back to you within two days so that we can discuss your requirements and details, guarantees, prices and so on. I will take this opportunity to offer my creative recommendations aobut the potential artwork.
- You may need to send the photograph again, as the image should be clear and sharp and as near to the original size as possible. The more detail visible in the photograph, the more detail I am able to put directly in the artwork.
-
Once we have agreed on the details by email, I require a 50% deposit and then I start work on the commission.
- I will take three photos of the artwork as I progress it and send these to you by email for your review.
-
It may take a month or more before your artwork is ready to send. The exact length of time depends on my client list at the time. You will be kept informed every step of the way.
- Once the painting is finished I will send the final image to you by email for your final approval.
-
At this point you forward the final 50% payment to me.
- Once this payment has been made, I will send the painting to you in protected packaging by Royal Mail.
My rates take into account the fact that everyone has to be particularly prudent with their money these days. The rate is broken down into costs of materials, administration, plus an hourly rate for the painting, which takes the quantity of detail required into account.
The prices here are only a guide to the prices. I will provide an exact price when you have told me the size of your choice and I have reviewed the photograph. There is, of course, no obligation at this stage. Delivery charges are not included in the price and are quoted separately.
Prices range from:
£180 for 12 x 10" (26 x 30cm) canvas or paper, to
£410 for 3 x 4ft (91 x 1.22m) canvas
It is essential you are completely satisfied with your unique artwork, so I offer a money back guarantee. I do everything I possibly can to produce an artwork you will treasure and love, but if you aren’t happy with the artwork once it has arrived at your home, you may send the artwork back to me and I will return your final 50% payment, minus the cost of postage and packaging. I retain the 50% deposit for work done and approved by you before delivery.
